Mutual Funds

What is a mutual fund?

A mutual fund is a large pool of money belonging to many people that is invested by experts in stocks, bonds or other securities with the goal of increasing the value of the overall pool. Each fund has a written investment goal that helps you decide whether it should have a place in your overall financial plan. While some investment funds can be used for shorter-term objectives, mutual funds are typically more appropriate for longer-term investing. That’s because their value fluctuates with the values of the securities they hold and returns are not guaranteed. Short-term fluctuations can be quite dramatic, but historically, long-term returns have been higher than from guaranteed interest products. Mutual funds can be held in registered plans like RRSPs, RRIFs, RESPs and some pension plans. They can also be held in non-registered savings plans.

Mutual funds and/or approved exempt market products are offered through Investia Financial Services Inc. (“Investia”).  Mutual funds and exempt market products are sold exclusively by Representatives who are licensed by provincial regulators and registered with Investia. Commissions, trailing commissions, management fees and other expenses may be associated with mutual fund/exempt market product investments. Please read the Fund Fact or prospectus carefully before investing. Mutual fund and exempt market product investments are not guaranteed, their values change frequently, and their past performance may not be repeated.
